The Town of
Calabash (population 1,786) seeks qualified candidates for the
position of Assistant Building Inspector. An employee in this class
performs building and fire inspections, code enforcement, and other
work as directed to ensure compliance of all regulations,
ordinances, and codes for the Town of Calabash. This position works
under the general supervision of the Calabash Building Inspector and
the Town Administrator
The
applicant must possess a high school diploma (or equivalent), a
valid NC Driver’s License, and must meet all requirements of the NC
Code Officials Qualification Board in order to perform the position.
The applicant must possess strong communication skills,
interpretation skills, record keeping skills, and be able to
maintain effective working relationships. The position requires that
the applicant be able to handle a number of physical tasks, indoors
and outdoors, in varying weather conditions.
The ideal
applicant will hold Standard Level I Certificate in the Building,
Mechanical, Plumbing, and Electrical trades. Applicants who hold a
minimum of one Standard Certificate, or, who have the necessary
experience and training to be eligible to take a minimum of one
State Certification Exam within 3 months of employment will also be

Description
The International Association of Electrical Inspectors (IAEI)
with its headquarters located in Richardson, Texas, which is in the
north Dallas metropolitan area, is seeking a qualified person for
the position of Codes and Standards Coordinator. IAEI is a
not-for-profit professional organization devoted to the electrical
industry with the intent to promote the safe use of electricity.
The Education Department is responsible for the development of
technical document content (text and graphics), development of
technical articles for the IAEI
News magazine,
and review of material submitted to IAEI for use in the IAEI
News and
other publications. The department is also responsible for
development of training programs for the electrical inspector and
the industry and coordination of training program and seminar
schedules.
Accountabilities
The Codes and Standards Coordinator is responsible for:

Coordinating the department’s seminars, activities, and projects.

Assisting in producing and/or updating IAEI training material.
·
Assisting in composing, reviewing, and the technical editing of
articles and material for theIAEI
News as
well as other IAEI publications.

Representing the International Office at Section/Chapter/Division
meetings as needed.
·
Serving as an IAEI instructor and/or speaking at training forums and
seminars as needed.
Skills, Capabilities and Experience
Experience in the electrical industry as an electrical inspector,
electrician, instructor/teacher, and public speaking is essential.
Good public relation skills are required for the high amount of
public contact involved with this position. Candidates are expected
to possess nationally recognized electrical certification or a
Master Electrician License. A minimum of ten (10) years of industry
knowledge, skills, and abilities is required. Knowledge of
photovoltaic and hazardous location installations would be an asset.

Hours: Monday-Friday; 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
This position is responsible for technical
and supervisory field and office work in the inspection of
electrical construction to ensure compliance with the National
Electrical Code and the Unified Development Ordinance. Supervision

NEMA,
the Association of Electrical and Medical Imaging Manufacturers, is
seeking a Field Representative for the Southern area of the U.S.
(the states in the Southern Section of the IAEI). The individual
will serve as an advocate for NEMA’s member companies and will work
with industry, public and private groups, and individuals to provide
assistance and feedback on a wide variety of issues facing the
electrical industry including existing and proposed laws,
regulations and ordinances, as well as probable future legislative
and regulatory trends.
This
position requires working independently from an office set-up in the
employee’s residence. A comprehensive knowledge of the National
Electrical Code as well as an understanding of the codes and
standards development process of organizations such as NFPA, UL and
the ICC is necessary. A background with the IAEI is desirable.
Knowledge of the regulatory environment in the Southern states is a
plus.
Excellent writing, presentation and communications skills are
necessary. Diplomacy and tact are important as well as an ability
to understand the subtleties of issues. The ability to budget
resources (funding, time, etc.) is critical. Personal computer use,
i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail, etc., is required.
The individual must reside in one of the states in the region.
